WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 25 ) -- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team improved to 6-1 (3-1 PAC) at the halfway point of the Fall season with a 9-0 win over PAC foe Waynesburg.
The Bearcats claimed all three doubles points with matching 8-2 scores across the board.Â
In singles play Marisa Hooper opened the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles before Lydia Lieb clinched the win for SVC with a 6-0, 6-0 win fourth singles. The Bearcats continued to roll as they raced the Yellow Jackets off court before rainstorms hit the area, with straight sets wins by Carolina Walters, Rachel Zgurich, Emily Pierce, and Rebecca Kurylo to finish out the match.
The 6-1 start is the best for the Green and Gold since 2012-2013 when they began the campaign 14-0 on the way to a PAC title. The Bearcats will return to action on Friday, September 29 when they host the Westminster Titans in a conference clash on the SVC Courts. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
