BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 2)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team secured a crucial 4-3 President's Athletic Conference victory at Geneva on Wednesday night.

Carolina Walters picked up the fourth and match-clinching point in the top singles position for the Bearcats (10-2, 4-2 PAC) to defeat the Golden Tornadoes (5-5, 0-5 PAC).

The Bearcats began the evening playing from behind, as Geneva won the lone doubles point. Saint Vincent fell in second doubles, while picking up a win in the third doubles spot.

Abby Donnelly and
Lydia Lieb recorded a 6-2 win in the third spot for the Bearcats to even up the doubles best-of-three series with the top spot still playing. SVC fell by a close 7-5 margin in the number one spot as Geneva took a 1-0 advantage.

Saint Vincent's first win of the evening came from
Marisa Hooper. Hooper picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the number five singles spot for the Bearcats. Geneva also picked up a win in the second singles position as SVC still trailed by a 2-1 margin.

SVC got further behind as the GT's followed with a win at fourth singles to put Geneva up 3-1.

The Bearcats battled the whole way back though. SVC won their final three matches at third singles, then the sixth singles position, before Walters clinched it with her win in the top spot.

Isabella Lane picked up the win for the Bearcats at third singles as she secured the Bearcats first of two three-set wins to clinch the match. Lane won by scores of 6-0, 5-7, and 6-1.

Donnelly followed with her second win of the afternoon in six singles with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in convincing fashion to tie the match at 3-3 with it all coming down to the top singles spot.

Walters then followed with her three-set 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory in a marathon match to secure the huge 4-3 PAC win for the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent will step outside of PAC play for a match as they play host to La Roche on Friday, October 4. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
