LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 2) – The Saint Vincent women's swimming team earned its second consecutive convincing dual meet victory, defeating visiting York College, 148-113, on Saturday afternoon at the Resnik Pool.
The Bearcats (2-1) picked up eight first-place finishes on the afternoon.
SVC earned its first victory in the day's opening event, as
Fallyn Zembiec,
Deanna Miller,
Emma Martz and
Sarah Alexander teamed up to place first in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.53. The Bearcat foursome of
Cecilia Hickin,
Lily Holsey,
Valerie Clabaugh and
Rachel Hutchinson placed third in the event in 2:02.45
The Bearcats had two of the top three finishers in the 1,000 freestyle, with Alexander placing second in 11:53.07 and
Emma Morgan third in 12:26.23, before Hutchinson placed second (2:05.90 and
Brook McDermott third (2:12.65) in the 200 freestyle.
Leskovansky, the reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, posted her second first-place finish of the day in the 100 backstroke, timed in 1:02.30, while runner-up honors went to Zembiec, who was timed in 1:04.80.
Martz continued her dominance in the butterfly events, turning in a time of 2:28.94 to win the 200 by more than eight seconds, before earning a three-second win in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.28.
Leskovansky would then earn wins in back-to-back events, taking first in the 50 freestyle in 25.22 seconds, and the 100 free in 55.83 seconds. Alexander earned a third-place finish in the 50 in 27.03 seconds.
Zembiec placed first in the 200 backstroke in 2:19.94, with Hickin taking third in 2:31.38, before Miller took second (2:42.58) and Clabaugh third (2:47.56) in the 200 breaststroke.
In the 500 freestyle, Hutchinson placed second in 5:33.96 and McDermott third in 5:52.23, before Miller and Hutchinson went 2-3 in the 200 IM, with Miller timed in 2:28.79 and Hutchinson 2:32.89.
The Bearcats would then close out the afternoon with another strong relay win, as Martz, Zembiec, Leskovansky and Hickin teaming up for a time of 1:45.21 in the 200 freestyle relay. The foursome of Clabaugh, McDermott, Morgan and
Ashley Thiel placed third iin 1:52.64.
Saint Vincent will now prep for its first PAC meet of the year, as it hosts defending conference champ Grove City at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in the Resnik Pool.
