CANTON, Ohio (Nov. 22)- The Saint Vincent men's and women's swimming teams competed in the second day of the Malone Invitational in Canton on Friday night.
The prelims for day two took place earlier this morning, while the finals for the event concluded this evening.
Saint Vincent opened the night with third and fifth place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay, with the women's team finishing in third and the men finished in fifth in the 13-team field. The team of
Fallyn Zembiec,
Valerie Clabaugh,
Emma Martz, and
Abby Leskovansky swam to a time of 1:52.33 to finish third in the event, a four-second drop from their prelim time.
On the men's side, the team of
Jacob Dzurica,
Liam Randolph,
Robert Harrington, and
Alex Leskovansky earned the fifth place finish for SVC. The team swam a time of 1:36.08 to finish fifth in the event, a five second drop from their prelim time.
After the relay to open the night, the 200-yard freestyle relay followed. On the women's side,
Sarah Alexander finished 16th with a time of 2:04.28, a one second drop from her prelim time.
Brook McDermott also swam a time of 2:05.94, a two-second drop from her morning prelim time in the same race. Harrington earned a sixth place individual finish for Saint Vincent in the same event, swimming a time of 1:46.65, a half second improvement from his time earlier in the day.
In the 400-yard IM
Rachel Hutchinson was solid for the Saint Vincent women's team. Hutchinson raced to a top ten, ninth place finish with a time of 5:02.51, a nine-second improvement from her prelim tim.
Lily Holsey also finished 15th in the event with a time of 5:21.65 for the Bearcats.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Martz swam to a finishing time of 1:03.38 to finish 13th for Saint Vincent. On the men's side, Leskovansky swam to a finishing time of 54.63, while
Hayden Klein finished right after Leskovansky with a time of 55.52.
Saint Vincent had two strong results on both sides in the 100-yard breaststroke. Clabaugh raced to an 11th place finish with a time of 1:11.93. On the men's side, Randolph earned a fourth place finish with a time of 57.21 for SVC.
Concluding the individual events for the night was the 100-yard backstroke.
Abby Leskovansky picked up another top-five finish with a third place result in the event, swimming a time of 59.76. Zembiec picked up an 11th place finish with a time of 1:02.36 for the Bearcats. Dzurica ended the individual events for the night with a third place finishing time of 50.28, a one second improvement from his time earlier in the day.
The Bearcats will conclude the Malone Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, November 23. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow night.
