LATROBE, Pa. (Dec. 7)- The Saint Vincent women's basketball team cruised to a 97-70 victory over Geneva on Saturday evening in the Carey Center.

The Bearcats (3-4, 3-1) led from to start to finish against the Golden Tornadoes (5-4, 2-2 PAC) to cruise to their third consecutive victory. Saint Vincent outscored the GT's 41-31 in the first half, before following that up with a 56-point second half to earn the victory.

Emily Thompson was one of the three Bearcats to score in double figures as she had a game-high 19 points on a strong 9-16 shooting night. She also grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists in the win as well.

Camdon Bashor scored 18 points, while also grabbing four rebounds and dished out three assists.
Makenna Maier added 17 points on 5-12 shooting, including going 3-8 from behind the arc.

Reese Gadsby totaled nine points, while
Danielle Pontius and
Ashley Lippold both scored eight for Saint Vincent in the win. Coming off the bench,
Jillian Mannarino scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds, while
Kate Bollinger scored six points and grabbed six rebounds as well.

As a team, Saint Vincent shot an impressive 47.9% from the field (34-71) in the win.

It was a quick start for the Bearcats as they quickly opened up to a nine-point lead (13-4) after a layup from Lippold. That lead would later grow into the double digits as they held an 11-point advantage at 20-9.
Geneva closed the quarter out on a quick 5-2 spurt to cut the lead to eight (22-14) going into the second quarter.

It was back-and-forth in the second quarter as Saint Vincent slightly outscored the GT's by a 19-17 margin. Saint Vincent continued to hold a comfortable lead throughout the quarter as they led by ten at the halftime break (41-31).

The Bearcats dominated in the third quarter, especially offensively. They scored 35 points in the quarter, outscoring Geneva by a 35-23 margin to have the game in hand with a 76-54 lead going into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, it was much of the same story as the Saint Vincent offense continued to be efficient as the Bearcats would hold on for the 27-point victory.

Saint Vincent limited Geneva to shoot just 36% from the field and 13% from beyond the arc. SVC also scored 28 points off of Geneva turnovers and 44 points in the paint.

SVC will return to action on Sunday, December 15 as they travel to Washington and Jefferson for another PAC matchup. Tip-off at W&J is scheduled for 1 p.m.
