GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 17)- The Saint Vincent men's swimming team finished third in the 2023-2024 PAC Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Grove City.
Jacob Dzurica added to his already impressive week with another top finish. Dzurica finished second in the 100-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 45.23, finishing just behind Caleb Einlof of Grove City who won the event.
Earlier in the week, Dzurica hit the B-cut in the 50-yard freestyle event.
Also, in the 100-yard freestyle,
Alex Leskovansky won the consolation portion, swimming a time of 48.79.
Soma Burt finished just behind Leskovansky with a time of 50.57 to finish in second in the same portion.
Jacob Bacasa had a solid performance on the final night of the event as well. Bacasa finished in second place in the 1650-yard freestyle event, swimming a time of 16:58.61 for the Bearcats. C.J. Mayhew of Grove City won the event with a time of 16:48.58 for the Wolverines.
Robert Harrington placed fifth in the 1650-free as well, finishing with a time of 17:32.36 to add another top-five finish for Saint Vincent.
Liam Randolph concluded his first PAC Championship with a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke event. Randolph swam a time of 2:05.83 for the Bearcats to finish slightly behind Logan Marks of W&J, who won the event with a time of 2:04.25.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Seifert paced Saint Vincent with an eighth-place finish in the championship portion of the event. Seifert swam a time of 2:09.04, while
Jacob Halter won the consolation portion of the event with a time of 2:10.67 to lead SVC.
In the final individual event of the championships, the 200-yard butterfly, the Bearcats were led by
Hayden Klein who finished sixth with a time of 2:07.40, while
Colin Spehar finished seventh with a time of 2:07.45.
To conclude the event, the relay team of Harrington, Dzurica, Leskovansky, and Randolph finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay, swimming a time of 3:13.70.
Grove City won the event with a total point score of 1090 while Westminster finished in second place with 628. SVC finished with 605 points in route to their third place finish.
The Bearcats will compete again, next Saturday, February 24, when they travel to Gambier, Ohio to compete in the Kenyon College Fast Chance Invitational to conclude their season.
