HILTON HEAD, S.C (March 7) – The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team closed out its southern spring break trip with a 7-2 victory over Lancaster Bible College.
The victory moves the Bearcats to 6-2 on the season.
Saint Vincent opened the morning match by winning two of three doubles contests in impressive fashion, with the No. 2 tandem of
Jack Citrone and
Matthew Sadusky claiming an 8-1 victory, and the No. 3 pairing of
Kyle Murray and
August Lawrence winning 8-0.
The Bearcats would then go on to claim five of six singles matches.
Jack Citrone was first off the court at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-1 win, with Murray promptly giving SVC a 4-1 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Brennen Novotney then sealed the match victory for the Bearcats with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 to improve to 4-0 in singles play on the season.
Sadusky claimed the Bearcats' sixth victory of the day, winning by walkover at No. 2 singles, before
Brian Lee earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot for SVC's seventh win.
The Bearcats will now return north and will continue their season with a trip to Buffalo, New York, on Saturday, March 16, to face Division-II Daemen University at 6:30 p.m.
