LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 14)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis picked up a big 4-3 PAC win against Washington and Jefferson on Saturday afternoon at the SVC Courts.

After losing the lone doubles point, the Bearcats (4-1, 2-1 PAC) battled back to tie the match up at 3-3 in singles play, before
Isabella Lane won in the third set of number two doubles to earn the clinching point for the Bearcats in the 4-3 win over the Presidents (2-2, 0-1 PAC).

In doubles play,
Marisa Hooper and
Emily Pierce won by a 6-3 score in number two doubles. However, the Presidents earned wins in the top spot and third position to earn the lone doubles points as the Bearcats found themselves trailing 1-0.

After a win by W&J in number three singles,
Abby Donnelly secured the first point of the afternoon for Saint Vincent. Donnelly won at number six singles by scores of 6-2, 6-1, but SVC still trailed 2-1.

Carolina Walters then tied the match up for Saint Vincent. She won by scores of 6-3, 6-1 to put Saint Vincent to tie it at 2-2. Hooper then gave Saint Vincent the lead for the first time of the match. She won in number five singles by scores of 6-4, 6-2 as SVC now led 3-2.

Lydia Lieb lost a tough match in the fourth singles position in three sets. Lieb fell by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 as W&J tied the match at 3-3 and it all came down to the second singles spot.

Lane won it for the Bearcats with a three-set win against the Presidents. She won in the second spot by scores of 6-2, 5-7, and 6-4 to earn the fourth and clinching point for Saint Vincent.

 The Bearcats will quickly return to action tomorrow, Sunday, September 15 with another PAC matchup, this one with SVC hosting Waynesburg. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
