WESTMINSTER, Md. (Sept. 22)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 road win at McDaniel on Sunday afternoon for their fourth consecutive win.
The Bearcats (7-1) won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point, before winning all six singles matches over the Green Terror (2-2).
In doubles play,
Carolina Walters and
Isabella Lane earned a 6-0 win in the top doubles spot.
Ashley Thiel and
Julia Runk followed with a 6-1 win in the third doubles spot to give SVC the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
Saint Vincent added another win in doubles play as
Marisa Hooper and
Emily Pierce recorded a 6-0 win in the second doubles position.
Walters then recorded her second win of the day, this one a 6-0, 6-1 victory as SVC took a 2-0 lead in the match. Saint Vincent's lead grew to 3-0 as
Rachel Zgurich earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory in number two singles.
Lydia Lieb clinched the match for the Bearcats after picking up a 6-2, 6-0 win in number three singles as SVC now led 4-0.
Hooper also recorded her second victory of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win in number four singles.Â
Abby Donnelly and
Caroline O'Connor tallied the Bearcats final two points of the afternoon to secure their 7-0 win. In number five singles, Donnelly won 6-1, 6-0. O'Connor then won 6-0, 6-0 in number six singles for Saint Vincent's final point of the match.
Saint Vincent will now travel to Steubenville tomorrow, Monday, September 23 to take on Franciscan. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
