STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 23)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis was defeated 5-2 on the road at Franciscan on Monday evening.
The Bearcats (7-2, 3-2 PAC) fell in two of the three doubles matches, before Franciscan (6-1, 2-1 PAC) won four of the six singles matches as the Bearcats fell on the road.
In doubles play,
Abby Donnelly and
Lydia Lieb won first with a 6-1 in third doubles. The Barons went on to win in number one and number two doubles to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Barons went on to win three of the first six matches in singles play to clinch the fourth point for the match win.
With the Bearcats down 5-0, they went on to finish the match on a strong not winning the final two matches.
Marisa Hooper earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory in number five singles.
Carolina Walters then picked up a marathon 7-5, 6-2 win in the top singles spot, but the Bearcats still fell by the 5-2 margin.
SVC will return to action on Friday, September 27 when they travel to Grove City for a PAC matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday.
