GREENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 29)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team swept a doubleheader against Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday afternoon.

In the opening match of the afternoon the Bearcats (9-2, 3-2 PAC) won the lone doubles point, before winning five of the six singles points as well to cruise to the 6-1 win. In match two, Saint Vincent once again won the doubles point and four of the six singles points against the Bobcats (4-3, 2-0 AMCC).

MATCH 1- Saint Vincent 6, Pitt-Greensburg 1

The Bearcats won third doubles by a Pitt-Greensburg forfeit and followed with a win in second doubles to clinch the doubles point. After a loss in the top doubles spot, Saint Vincent won five of the six singles matches to cruise to the 6-1 win.

In doubles play,
Abby Donnelly and
Lydia Lieb picked up a forfeit win by the Bobcats.
Emily Pierce and
Marisa Hooper followed with a 6-1 win in number two doubles to clinch the doubles point, giving SVC a 1-0 lead.

The Bearcats fell in the top doubles spot as the match headed into singles play.

Saint Vincent earned forfeit wins in the five and six singles spots to go up 3-0 in the match. Hooper along with
Isabella Lane were in those five and six spots, earing forfeit wins for SVC.

Donnelly then followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in number four singles as Saint Vincent led 4-0.

After an SVC loss in second singles,
Carolina Walters put the Bearcats up 5-1 with a 7-5, 6-3 win in the top singles position.

Lydia Lieb earned the Bearcats their final point of the opening match with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-4 marathon victory in the third singles spot.

MATCH 2- Saint Vincent 5, Pitt-Greensburg 2

Just as they did in the first match, the Bearcats picked up the lone doubles point. SVC earned a forfeit win in third doubles, before winning both first and second doubles. The Bearcats then won four of the six singles points as well to earn the 5-2 victory.

Lane along with
Emily Pierce picked up the forfeit win in third doubles. Donnelly and Lieb then won by a 6-3 score in second doubles to clinch the doubles point, putting the Bearcats up 1-0.

Hooper along with
Rachel Zgurich added a 7-6(5) win in the top doubles position for the Bearcats after a long match.

After a loss in second singles cut the Bearcats lead to 3-1, Walters clinched the match for Saint Vincent with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the top singles spot for her second win of the afternoon.

The Bearcats then fell in third singles as the lead was 4-2.

Pierce earned the Bearcats their fifth point of the second match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, October 2 as they head to Geneva for a PAC matchup on the road. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Beaver Falls on Wednesday.
