PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept. 27)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team won a road non-conference game by a 3-1 margin at Carlow on Friday night.

The Bearcats (5-9) won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-17, before dropping the third set to the Celtics (5-8) won the third set 23-25. Saint Vincent went on to win the fourth set by a score of

Meegan Williams led the way for the Bearcats with 18 kills.
Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic was strong for Saint Vincent as well with 14 kills and 11 digs.
Dakota Hershberger at 12 kills and six digs for SVC.

Lauren Fox had six kills and four blocks, while
Stacie Ramos recorded 16 digs and
Madie Eagler totaled a team-high 26 assists.
Sani Jones also added 22 assists for the Bearcats.

Maya Martell recorded an impressive seven service aces in the 3-1 win as well.

In the opening set, it was all Bearcats. The set was tied 5-5 early on, but Saint Vincent scored three consecutive points to take an 8-5 advantage on an ace by
Maya Martell and kills from Fox and Williams.

That three-point lead remained steady over the next few points for SVC as they found themselves leading 21-18 after another ace from Martell. After a Carlow timeout, the Bearcats scored the final four points in the set, two of which came on aces from Martell as Saint Vincent took the opening set (25-18), taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

Both teams traded points back-and-forth early on in the second set as the set was tied 9-9. Saint Vincent went on to score the next four points on kills by Fox and Staples followed by two errors from Carlow as Saint Vincent led 13-9.

The teams traded the next few points as SVC still led by four at 17-13. They further increased that lead to 20-13 after kills from Hershberger and Williams, along with a Celtics error as the Bearcats led 20-13.

SVC went on to outscore Carlow 5-4 the rest of the way, ending the set on an error from Carlow as the Bearcats won the second set (25-17), taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The Celtics forced a fourth set with a 25-23 in the third set as the Bearcats attempted a late comeback in the set to attempt to go for the sweep. The Bearcats took a 23-22 lead late in the third set after another kill from Williams, but Carlow went on to score the next three points to win the third set (25-23), cutting the Saint Vincent lead to 2-1 heading into the fourth set.

It was back-and-forth early on in the fourth set as the set was tied 8-8. That's when Saint Vincent took full control in the fourth set. The Bearcats scored 12 of the next 15 points to take a 20-11 advantage.

Carlow attempted a late comeback, but Williams ended the match with a kill, giving the Bearcats the fourth set win (25-18) and the 3-1 win in the match.

Saint Vincent hit an impressive .214 over the course of their win. They recorded 13 service aces, 55 kills, and six blocks in the 3-1 victory.

The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday, October 2 when they play host to Mount Aloysius in a non-conference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center on Wednesday night.
