ALTOONA, Pa. (Sept. 8)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team defeated Penn State-Altoona 6-1 in a road non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats (2-0) won all three doubles matches to earn the lone doubles point over the Lions (2-2), before winning five of the six singles matches to earn the road win.

Carolina Walters and
Isabella Lane earned a 6-3 win in the top doubles position.
Marisa Hooper and
Emily Pierce followed with a 6-2 win in the second doubles spot for the Bearcats.

Even after earning the lone doubles point,
Lydia Lieb and
Abby Donnelly also earned a 6-2 win in number three doubles to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead in the match.

Two of the Bearcats first three wins in singles came in the number three and number five spot.

In number three singles, Lane earned her second win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Donnelly also picked up her second win of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 win in number five singles to give SVC a 3-0 lead.

After a win for Altoona at number two singles, Walters then clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win as SVC was up 4-1. The Bearcats earned two more wins to add to their lead even with the match already won.

Saint Vincent won in number six and number four singles, with Lieb earning the Bearcats final point of the afternoon in the four spot. In the six position, Hooper won her second match of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-0 win.

Lieb won 6-4, 6-0 in the number four spot as the Bearcats won 6-1.

The Bearcats return to action on Monday, September 9 for their home opener against Thiel. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
