LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 9)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team earned their third consecutive win to open up the season with a 7-0 home victory against Thiel.

With the 7-0 win, the Bearcats (3-0, 1-0 PAC) also earned their first Presidents' Athletic Conference win of the season. In the match,
Lydia Lieb picked up her 50th career victory with a win in number four singles.

The Bearcats swept all nine matches with three wins in doubles to earn the lone doubles point and all six singles matches as well to defeat the Tomcats (0-1, 0-1 PAC).

In doubles play,
Carolina Walters and
Isabella Lane secured the first win of the afternoon for the Bearcats with a 6-0 victory.
Emily Pierce and
Marisa Hooper followed also with a 6-0 victory in the second doubles position to give the Bearcats the 1-0 lead.

Abby Donnelly along with Lieb picked up the Bearcats third 6-0 doubles win with their win in third doubles.

Pierce followed her win in doubles, being the first to finish victorious in singles play. The Bearcats lead increased to 2-0 as Pierce earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five singles.

Walters then picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win for Saint Vincent in the top singles position to give the Bearcats a 3-0 advantage. Donnelly clinched the match for SVC, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory in number six singles.

With the match in hand, the Bearcats earned their final three wins at third, fourth, and second singles. Lane won her second match of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Lieb's 50
th career win went 6-1, 6-2 in the four position.

Rachel Zgurich scored the final point of the afternoon for the Bearcats with a 7-5, 6-1 victory in second singles.

The Bearcats will return to action on Wednesday, September 11 with a home PAC matchup against Allegheny. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
