LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 23)- The Saint Vincent wrestling team earned a dominant 48-6 Presidents Athletic Conference victory against Hiram on Thursday night in the Robert S. Carey Center.
Saint Vincent (4-6, 2-0 PAC) won in nine of the Bearcats ten weight classes to cruise to the victory against Hiram (2-6, 1-2 PAC).
To open the night,
Sean Cain earned a win by fall at 2:19 in the 125 lbs. weight class to put Saint Vincent up 6-0 in the dual.
Kyle McCollum followed with a 17-1 tech. fall victory at 3:29 at 133 lbs. to increase the Bearcats lead to 11-0.
The Bearcats big night continued big night continued as
Ryan Yocum secured a win by fall at 1:05 in the 141 lbs. weight class to win Saint Vincent's third consecutive match to open the dual, giving the Bearcats a 17-0 advantage.
Tyler Debnar followed with a 5-1 decision victory against Jackson Bowers of Hiram to push the SVC lead to 20-0 after the 149 lbs. weight class.
Logan Bechtold followed with a victory by fall at 4:40 in the 157 lbs. weight class to increase the Bearcats lead to 26-0. Saint Vincent secured wins by forfeit in two of the next three weight classes, coming at 165 lbs. and 184 lbs.
Chase Brandebura was credited with the victory at 165 lbs., while Bushati got the win at 184 lbs.
At 174 lbs.,
Nathan Barkley earned a 17-2 tech. fall victory for Saint Vincent over Hiram's Jimmy Thomas to push their lead to 37-0.
Ryan Weinzen kept the shutout alive for SVC as he picked up a 19-3 tech. fall victory at 2:28 over Jaden Bell to push the Bearcats lead to 48-0.
The Terriers picked up a pin at 285 lbs., but the Bearcats still earned the 48-6 victory.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Thursday, January 30 hosting Washington and Jefferson in another PAC matchup. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Robert S. Carey Center.
