PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 31)- The Saint Vincent College men's swimming team competed at the opening day of the Carnegie Mellon Western PA Invite.
The Bearcats opened the afternoon with a sixth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Jacob Dzurica,
Robert Harrington,
Alex Leskovansky, and
Liam Randolph swam to a finish of 1:26.88 for Saint Vincent.
Randolph was the Bearcats top finisher in the first individual event of the meet. Randolph finished seventh in the 17-swimmer field in the 200-yard IM, swimming a time of 2:01.58.
Giovanni Guido finished ninth in a time of 2:03.89 in the event to finish just behind Randolph.
Randolph was also Saint Vincent's top finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke. The sophomore placed sixth in the 12-swimmer field, racing a time of 59.12.
Christopher Shilaos followed with a sixth place result in the in the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 2:11.25.
Dzurica followed with an impressive second place result in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.80 seconds. His finish came in a field of 23 swimmers.
Saint Vincent closed the event with a seventh place result in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Dzurica, Randolph, Harrington, and Leskovansky finished in a time of 3:36.16.
The Bearcats return to action tomorrow, Saturday, February 1 for the final day of the Carnegie Mellon Western PA Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 noon.
