LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 24)- The Saint Vincent women's swimming team earned a dominant 147-94 victory in their Presidents Athletic Conference opener on Friday night in Latrobe.
Emma Martz had a big night for the Bearcats. She recorded three individual wins and swam a leg on the Bearcats winning 200-yard medley relay team. Martz won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.45), 200-yard breaststroke (2:41.31), and the 200-yard IM (2:24.40).Â
Rachel Hutchinson added two wins for Saint Vincent, coming in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.99) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.85).
Cecilia Hickin added two individual second place results, coming in the 200-yard butterfly (2:39.50) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.20), while swimming a leg on both the winning 200-yard medley relay team and 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Deanna Miller also swam a leg on the Bearcats winning 200-yard medley relay team, while adding second place results in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.62) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:44.72).
Ava Sutter added a second place result in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.94), while swimming a leg on SVC's winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Ashley Thiel finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.26), while
Fallyn Zembiec finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.85) and swam a leg on the Bearcats winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Brook McDermott added a second place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 12:19.69 for the Bearcats.
Adrianna Grimm won the 50-yard freestyle (26.24) and finished second in the 100-yard backstroke, while swimming legs on both the winning 200-yard medley relay team and 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Sydney Burton,
Chaely Raynor, and
Valerie Clabaugh all added third place results for Saint Vincent.
Saint Vincent returns to action next Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1 competing in the two-day York College Invitational. The invitational is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday and 12 noon on Saturday.
