LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 30)- The Saint Vincent men's and women's soccer programs will host a Presidents Athletic Conference playoff doubleheader for the first time in program history this Saturday, November 1.
On the men's side, the Bearcats have earned the number four seed and will host fifth seeded Geneva at 4 p.m. at UPMC Field on Saturday. Following the men's game, the Saint Vincent women's team has earned the number three seed and will host a playoff game for the third consecutive season. They will take on sixth seeded Allegheny at 7 p.m. at UPMC Field.
Under the guidance of first year Head Coach
Tyler Gallagher, the men's soccer program has compiled a record of 11-3-5, including a 5-2-4 record in PAC play. The Bearcats 11 wins are the most in a season for them since 2005, when they won 12 games.
Defensively, SVC has allowed just 11 goals in conference play, which is tied for the second least amount of goals allowed in the PAC. The Bearcats are led by senior goalie
Kameron Rock who ranks first in shutouts (7) and in the top five in the conference in goals against average and saves. Offensively, SVC has been led by freshman
Daniel Maddock. Maddock has scored nine goals and dished out five assists, both of which rank in the top 10 in the PAC this season.
Saint Vincent and Geneva played earlier this season on Wednesday, October 8, which ended in a 1-0 victory for SVC. The win was the Bearcats first win against the GT's since 2008.
Under the guidance of fourth year Head Coach
Bryan Butler, the Bearcats recorded a program record 14 wins going 14-3-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the PAC this season. Saint Vincent has allowed the second fewest goals (12) in the conference this year. They are led by sophomore goalie
Rilyn Warner who ranks 4th in the entire country with nine shutouts this season.
Emma Koller has led the Saint Vincent offensive once again, scoring 12 goals and dishing out four assists during the regular season. The junior forward ranks in the top ten in the PAC in both of goals and assists.
The Bearcats and Gators are familiar with each other as they just played earlier this week on Tuesday, October 28. The game ended in a 2-0 victory for SVC. The overall series between the two is as even as it gets. Both teams have a win and have tied twice also.
