Women's soccer records third consecutive shut out in 2-0 win against Geneva

LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 7)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer earned their third consecutive shutout with a 2-0 home Presidents Athletic Conference victory against Geneva on a rainy Tuesday night at UPMC Field.

In a steady downpour throughout the entirety of the game, the Bearcats (10-1-1, 3-0-1 PAC) braved the conditions, scoring two first half goals to earn the victory and sixth shutout in their last seven games.

Madisen Geesaman scored one of the Bearcats goals, while they other goal came on an own-goal off of a corner kick. Emily Ambrose and Addie Fisher picked up the assists for SVC in the win.

Rilyn Warner continued her dominant play in goal, making three saves in the shutout victory.

After a scoreless opening 15 minutes, Geesaman got the Bearcats on the board in the 17th minute scoring on an assist from Ambrose to put the Bearcats up 1-0.

The Bearcats second goal came in the 28th minute on a corner kick from Fisher that deflected off of a Geneva player and went in to double the Bearcats lead.

Playing with a comfortable lead in the second half, the Bearcats dominated to cruise to the victory.

Saint Vincent outshot the Golden Tornadoes by a 12-4 margin and 6-3 in shots on goal. Corner kicks were 9-2 in favor of the Bearcats. SVC only committed one foul, while the GT's totaled five fouls.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, October 11 with a trip to Waynesburg to compete against the Yellow Jackets. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Waynesburg.
