CLEVELAND, Ohio (Nov. 30)- The Saint Vincent men's basketball team fell by a score of 78-61on the road at Case Western Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

After trailing by 19 (46-27) at the half, Saint Vincent played an even second half with Case Western but fell short in the road non-conference matchup.

Dev Ostrowski led Saint Vincent with 20 points, while he also dished out three assists and picked up three steals as well.
Maxwell Gordon,
Duncan Spalding, and
Brady O'Rourke all finished with six points each in the loss for Saint Vincent.

It was a slow start offensively for the Bearcats over the first four minutes of play. The Spartans held Saint Vincent without a field goal over those first four minutes and SVC found themselves trailing 7-2. Saint Vincent's lone two points came from the foul line.

Mike Iuzzolino scored the Bearcats first field goal of the game right out of the media timeout to cut the lead to 8-4. The Bearcats continued to cut into the lead going on a 7-4 spurt, ending with a three from Ostrowski to cut the lead to 12-11 with just over 13 minutes remaining in the opening half.

Case Western Reserve answered with a 14-5 run of their own over the next five minutes of play as Saint Vincent found themselves trailing by ten (26-16) with 8:51 remaining in the second half.

Over the remaining eight plus minutes, the Spartans outscored Saint Vincent 20-11 and SVC trailed 46-27 going into the break.

Saint Vincent was limited to shoot just 9-30 in the opening half.

It was an evenly played opening six minutes to start the second half. Saint Vincent slightly outscored the Spartans 12-10 over those opening six minutes to cut the lead to 56-39 with 14 minutes remaining in the game.

The Bearcats controlled the next four minutes of play as they went on a quick 5-0 run to cut the lead to 56-44 with 12:22 remaining in the second half. All five points were scored by Ostrowski.

Over the next few minutes, the Saint Vincent defense stepped up, holding CWRU without a field goal for over eight minutes of game time as they cut the lead to eight at 56-48.

From that point on, Case Western closed the game out on a 22-13 run as the Spartans held on to defeat the Bearcats by 17.

Saint Vincent shot just 21-60 in the loss. Case Western shot 28-56 on their end.

The Bearcats will conclude their trip to Cleveland on Tuesday, December 2 with a non-conference matchup at John Carroll. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday night.
