BETHANY, W.V. (Dec. 1)- The Saint Vincent women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 62–57 road victory at Bethany inside Hummel Field House during their Presidents Athletic Conference opener on Monday night.
The Bearcats used a fast start to set the tone, surging to a 17–6 lead after the first quarter behind strong interior play and multiple second-chance opportunities.
Makenna Maier powered the offense with a game-high 23 points, shooting 8-for-14 from the field while knocking down five three-pointers.
Camdon Bashor turned in a standout performance in the post, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds to help control the paint on both ends of the floor.
Saint Vincent also received a lift from
Avina Norman, who scored nine points off the bench, including a pivotal fourth-quarter jumper that helped the Bearcats maintain their advantage as Bethany mounted a late push.
Defensively, the Bearcats held Bethany to 31.9% shooting and capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 22 points while also generating 16 second-chance points on the glass.
Bethany closed the gap late behind a 17-point showing from Ella Simpson, but Saint Vincent's timely scoring and composure down the stretch secured the win.
The victory marks another strong performance for the Bearcats, highlighted by Maier's efficient scoring, Bashor's double-double, and key contributions across the roster.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, December 6 with a road PAC matchup at Waynesburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday night.
