WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 6)- The Saint Vincent men's basketball team earned a hard fought 84-80 win at Waynesburg in the Bearcats Presidents Athletic Conference opener on Saturday night.

Saint Vincent (4-3, 1-0 PAC) pulled away from the Yellow Jackets late in the second half to earn the win in the PAC opener on the road. SVC held a one point lead at the half (36-35), before outscoring Waynesburg 48-45 in the second half to secure the four point victory.

Maxwell Gordon led Saint Vincent with 24 points, while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out four assists, and picked up three steals. Jaden Gales added 19 points, six rebounds, and three steals for the Bearcats. Dev Ostrowski was the third Bearcat in double figures with 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals.

Duncan Spalding scored seven points, while Mike Iuzzolino and Terek Crosby both scored six points each. Crosby also grabbed five rebounds for the Bearcats.

As a team, the Bearcats shot 48.3% from the field (29-60) in the win. Saint Vincent out rebounded Waynesburg by a 34-32 margin.

Waynesburg opened up to a five point lead (29-24) late in the first half. However, the Bearcats outscored them 12-6 over the final six minutes of the opening half to hold the one point lead at the half.

It was back-and-forth for the majority of the second half. However, Saint Vincent pulled away late, opening their lead up to nine points at one point late in the second half. Waynesburg added a couple of baskets late, but the Bearcats held on for the road victory in their PAC opener.

Saint Vincent will have the next week off before returning to action on Sunday, December 14 as they take on Bethany on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. against the Bison.
