GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 22)- The Saint Vincent men's swimming team placed third at the Presidents Athletic Conference Championship Meet. The event was highlighted by junior swimmer,
Jacob Dzurica winning the PAC MVP award for the Bearcats.
Dzurica is the first Bearcat to take home the MVP award since Zach Baum won the award during the 2019-20 championship. Dzurica put together an impressive week, winning three individual championships, two of which earned him NCAA B-Cut times, while also swimming a leg on the Bearcats three second-place relay teams as well.
Dzurica concluded his impressive four days just the way he started it. On the final night of the meet, he edged out Caleb Einolf of Grove City with a championship winning time of 44.44 seconds to take home the PAC Championship in the 100-yard freestyle. His time is also an NCAA B-Cut time as well. To conclude the event, he swam a leg on the Bearcats runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay team. His leg clocked in at 44.81 seconds for SVC, swimming with his teammates
Alex Leskovansky,
Liam Randolph, and
Robert Harrington.
Randolph concluded the final day strong as well. Randolph picked up a runner-up finish in the 200-yard breast stroke. The sophomore swam a time of 2:06.27, 0.22 seconds faster than his time in the prelims earlier in the day. Randolph was slightly edged out by Logan Marks, who swam a time of 2:06.19 to win the event.
Giovanni Guido finished seventh in the same event, swimming a time of 2:18.90.
Hayden Klein added a seventh place result for SVC in the 200-yard butterfly, swimming a time of 2:05.56 for the Bearcats.
In the 1650-freestyle, Harrington finished sixth (17:49.20) and
Gabe Yant finished eighth for the Bearcats (18:16.81).
The Bearcats as a team finished in third in the event with a team total of of 589 points. Grove City won the championship with 1087 points and Washington and Jefferson finished in second with 635 points.
