With a 6-1 record for the weekend and an overall conference record of 13-1, the Saint Vincent Women's Bowling team secured the #1 seed in next month's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament.

SVC outscored its opponents for the weekend by more than 440 pins over 7 games, averaging just under 184 at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg.

In the first match of the weekend, the Bearcats defeated Hilbert College by 82 pins, 882-800, which would prove to be the team's lowest game of the weekend.  Kaylie Kurland led the way with a 190, while Mareana Pilyih added a 189, and Sabine Strickland finished with a 188 game.

The Bearcats next faced Pitt-Bradford, earning a 913-845 victory.  Brooke Street had the top score with a 219, while Daphne Stuber added a 188 and Strickland had a 182.  In game three, SVC took the early lead against Alvernia University and never looked back, cruising to a 980-764 win.  Three Bearcats topped the 200 mark - Street (223), Strickland (212) and Skyy Nicholls (209).

Day one ended with the team's fourth straight win, by a score of 943-816 against Penn State-Behrend.  Street had a season-best 245, while Pilyih shot 186 and Strickland finished with a 180.

The second day started with a matchup against La Roche University, and the Bearcats extended their win streak with a 907-592 win.  Strickland had the top score (209), followed by Street (202) and Nicholls (180).  The team followed with an 889-748 win over the Bobcats from Pitt-Greensburg, with Stuber reaching the 200 mark.  Pilyih added a 188 and Nicholls finished with a 184 game.

The final game of the weekend pitted SVC against reigning conference champion William Smith College.  SVC fell behind early and trailed by 70 pins with just three frames remaining.  The Bearcats battled back, throwing strikes on 13 of 17 shots late in the game, but fell short by just 18 pins, 940-922.  Street led the way with a 205, followed by Nicholls (196) and Stuber (177).

For the weekend, Street led all bowlers with a seven-game average of 200.6.  Strickland was second overall, averaging 186.9, followed by Nicholls (182), and Stuber (178.8).

Saint Vincent is now 40-11 in NCAA competition this year, and will be back in action February 14-16, traveling to Wilmington, Delaware for the three-day Wildcat D2-D3 Invitational.
