Men's lacrosse wins big in PAC road matchup at Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (March 29)- The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team used an offensive outburst to breeze past Franciscan with a 26-9 win on the road on Saturday evening.

Saint Vincent (5-5, 2-0 PAC) cruised to a 17 goal win on the road, after scoring an impressive 18 goals in the opening half to down the Barons (2-7, 0-3 PAC).

Liam McCall led Saint Vincent in the win, scoring seven points. McCall scored three goals, while dishing out three assists and scooped up four ground balls. Jonathan Nagy added six goals and two ground balls, while Carter Haid (two goals, two assists) and Ryan Rosenberger (three goals, one assist) both totaled four points for the Bearcats. 

Calvin Rose added three goals, while Jacob Crumling scored two goals and dished out one assist as well. Connor Smith (two assists), Cole Vollero (two goals), and Justin Wodarek (two assists) all recorded two points each for Saint Vincent. Owen Rogers, Brady Beard, Eli Hartle, and Brad Mockenhaupt all scored goals. Beard was also an impressive 28-32 in faceoffs, while also scooping up 11 ground balls. 

Luca Blevins and Cam Herring both picked up assists for Saint Vincent in the win. Herring also scooped up five ground balls, while Zander Vetter added four ground balls of his own. Isaiah Francis recorded three caused turnovers and two ground balls of his own in the win as well. Mason Krabbe added three ground balls and Tyler Harpst picked up two of his own for SVC.

Garrett Ritts picked up the win, playing just the first 30 minutes in net, making one save. Jackson Blow added two saves as did Bryan Millward, while Tyler Friend added a save in goal as well for Saint Vincent.

Saint Vincent quickly jumped out to a 7-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. SVC poured it on in the second with 11 goals to go into the half with a huge 18-6 advantage. It was much of the same in the second half as the Bearcats outscored the Barons 8-3 over the course of the half.

SVC outshot the Barons by a large 63-24 margin, while Saint Vincent forced 19 Franciscan turnovers. The Bearcats were 14-19 on clears and won faceoffs by a 32-7 margin. Saint Vincent was also 3-4 on extra man opportunities as well.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednsday, April 2 with another road PAC matchup at Allegheny. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Meadville, Pa.
