SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Apr. 5)- The Saint Vincent men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Slippery Rock Dave Labor Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
In the field events,
Zachary Shuey and
Lucas Measel both set PR's in their events. Shuey recorded a PR mark of 31.41m in the discus throw, while Measel recorded a mark of 1.75m in the high jump.
In the 5K,
Matthew Thomas recorded a PR time of 16:40.81 for Saint Vincent.
Michael Drazga finished right behind Thomas with a time of 16:50.32, just missing his personal best time in the event.
Ethan Wymer was SVC's top finisher in the event, racing a time of 16:26.91, while
Brady Sundin raced a time of 16:39.57 for the Bearcats.
Joey Jafarace (17:10.92) and
Kenny Battistelli (17:12.56) both raced for Saint Vincent in the event as well.
Aiden Jackson ran a season best time for Saint Vincent in the 1500-meter race on the men's side, placing ninth in the field of 94. Jackson ran a time of 4:06.51 for the Bearcats.
Roger Kwiat raced a PR time of 5:01.98 for the Bearcats in the same event. On the women's side,
Lily Murphy raced a PR time of 4:52.23 for SVC to finish 10th in the field of 74.
Emma Hyder raced a time of 6:21.15 in the same event.
In the 400-meter dash,
Cadence Smith raced a personal best time of 1:07.46 for the Bearcats.
Jalani Campbell (55.33) and
Matthew Esdelle (56.48) raced in the 400 on the men's side of the race.
P.J. McNeal and
Samantha Straub both raced a distance event for the first time in their collegiate careers, competing in the 800-meter race. McNeal raced a time of 2:02.81, while Straub raced a time of 2:27.63 for the Bearcats.
McNeal also raced a PR time of 11.36 seconds for SVC in the 100-meter dash, while
Evan Suraci raced a time of 11.92 seconds in the same event.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, April 12, competing in the two-day Bucknell Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.
