NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Aug. 29)- The Saint Vincent women's cross country team opened the season finishing second at the Westminster College Fisher Invitational.
The day for the Bearcats was highlighted by sophomore and reigning PAC Newcomer of the Year
Grace Neubert, who won the event for the Saint Vincent. Neubert's victory helped catapult the Bearcats into the second place result.
The sophomore raced an impressive time of 18:11.66 beating out the next closest finisher by 55 seconds. Neubert's 5K time is the second fastest time in Saint Vincent's program history.
Cassy Lanza (19:52.34) and
Lily Murphy (20:06.93) finished next for SVC, placing 10th and 11th respectively.
Lauren Schemmel (20:23.81) and freshman
Jane Huss (20:27.92) placed right behind Lanza and Murphy, racing to 13th and 14th place results in the over 100 runner field.
Isabella Snyder and
Grace Scoville rounded out the last two spots in the top-20 to also help Saint Vincent as well. Snyder raced a time of 20:47.21 and Scoville recorded a time of 20:47.33.
Miranda Cincotta ran a time of 21:10.81 for SVC.
Teresa Grimm (22:19.18) and
Emma Hyder (22:53.19) rounded out the race for the Bearcats.
Saint Vincent will run again on Saturday, September 13 as they take part in the Bethany College Invitational. The race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
