PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept. 21)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 non-conference victory against Carlow on Sunday morning in Pittsburgh.
After losing the doubles point, the Bearcats (5-3, 2-2 PAC) picked up wins in five of the six singles matches to pick up the non-conference victory over the Celtics (0-5).
Rachel Zgurich and
Ashley Thiel picked up the lone win in doubles play, earning a 6-4 victory in the third spot. However, Carlow won the other two doubles matches and SVC found themselves trailing 1-0.
It was all Saint Vincent in singles.
Carolina Walters remained undefeated with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the top singles spot. Zgurich picked up her second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win in second singles.Â
Caroline O'Connor added a 6-1, 6-1 win in fourth singles, while
Bella Baumgardner secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the fifth spot. In six singles,
Ashley Thiel recorded a 6-2, 4-6, 10-7 victory with the match in hand for Saint Vincent.
The Bearcats have a quick turnaround as they return to action tomorrow, Monday, September 22 hosting Franciscan in a PAC match. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday evening.
