LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 27)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team defeated Division-II foe Clarion 5-2 in a home non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at the SVC Courts.

Saint Vincent (7-4, 3-3 PAC) won two of the three doubles matches and four of the five singles match to cruise to the non-conference victory over Clarion (1-6, 0-0 PSAC).

To begin the afternoon, the Bearcats picked up a forfeit win in the third doubles spot. After falling in second doubles, Carolina Walters and Rachel Zgurich earned a 6-4 victory in the top doubles spot to put Saint Vincent up 1-0 in the match.

The Bearcats opened singles with a forfeit win in the sixth spot to go up 2-0 in the match. Bella Baumgardner followed with a 6-0, 6-1 in number five singles. After falling in fourth singles, Zgurich picked up her second win of the afternoon, this one coming in the second doubles spot. Zgurich earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory to put SVC up 4-1 to clinch the match.

Walters added her second win of the afternoon, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win in the top singles spot for the Bearcats to add to their win.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Monday, September 29 as they return to play PAC play, hosting Geneva. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
