GROVE CITY, Pa. (Sept. 29)- The Saint Vincent men's golf team won the Grove City Invitational on Monday afternoon.
David Newsom also earned the indiviudal medalist award at the Invitational as well.
In the 16-team field, SVC carded a total team score of 288 (even par) to win the invite, defeating PAC foe Washington and Jefferson by four strokes.Â
Newsom won the event by shooting a three-under, 69 to defeat W&J's William Ainsworth by two strokes. Newsom carded six birdies, while shooting a four-under, 32 on the front nine to lead Saint Vincent to the victory.
Matt Edwards,
Logan Clark, and
Owen Dzurko all tied for fourth at the event, shooting an even par, 72. Edwards recorded three birdies and 12 pars on his card. Clark recorded five birdies and eight pars on his card, while Dzurko recorded four birdies and ten pars for SVC.
Brendan Cooley recorded a round of three over, 75 for SVC as well. Cooley totaled three birdies and ten pars on his card for SVC to finish t-16.
Individually,
Owen Miele recorded a round of 81 and
Evan Bower shot a 90 for the Bearcats as well.
Saint Vincent will now prepare for the fall portion of the PAC Championship Tournament which begins on Monday, October 13. Opening tee times begin at 10:30 a.m. at Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio.
