Men's volleyball breezes by Carlow

LATROBE, Pa. (Feb. 3) – The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team posted a decisive 3-0 (25-6, 25-17, 25-17) victory over Carlow University (Pa.) Tuesday evening inside the Robert S. Carey Center.

With the win, the Bearcats improve to 3-2 on the season, while Carlow falls to 0-8.

Saint Vincent dominated from the opening set, taking control early and maintaining a relentless attack throughout the night. The Bearcats finished with 48 total kills and 14 aces, showcasing offensive balance and consistency that Carlow struggled to counter. SVC's defensive pressure also limited the Celtics to just 15 total kills and four aces in the three-set sweep.

Leading the Bearcats' offense was Braeden Artman, who recorded a match-high seven kills and added key contributions in the middle. Owen Ward chipped in four kills and led the team with three aces, while Chrystiaan Sexton added two blocks to help anchor Saint Vincent's net defense.

Setter Jack Ryan paced the attack with 15 assists and also led the defense with seven digs, orchestrating the offense with strong distribution all night.

Saint Vincent also got notable efforts from Rocco Marino, who finished with two digs and provided energy on both serve and defense, as well as strong floor play from Tyler Nelson and Zebadiah Wyant in support roles.

The Bearcats' offense put continuous pressure on Carlow's defense, turning early advantages into comfortable set victories.

Carlow was led by a trio of four-kill efforts from Caio Matos Machado, Jaden Michalski and Gavin McLain, but the Celtics were unable to sustain offensive consistency against SVC's front line. Carlow's defensive efforts were solid in stretches, but Saint Vincent's balanced attack and quick distribution proved too much across all three sets.

The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, February 7, competing against Hilbert at Hiram University. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon on Saturday.
