LATROBE, Pa. (Mar. 29)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team earned a 6-1 non-conference victory over Fredonia on Sunday afternoon at the SVC Courts.

The Bearcats improved to 10-11 overall with the win, while the Blue Devils fell to 0-12. Saint Vincent took control early by sweeping all three doubles flights to claim the opening point.

Carolina Walters and
Caroline O'Connor teamed up for a 6-3 win at first doubles, while
Sydney McWreath and
Ashley Thiel posted a 6-0 shutout victory in the second spot.
Bella Baumgardner and
Cloie Causer completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

In singles play, Walters earned a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win in the top flight, while
Emily Pierce battled to a three-set victory at No. 2, taking the match by scores of 6-2, 1-6, 10-2.
Rachel Zgurich added a 6-1, 6-1 win in the third singles spot and McWreath was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 4 singles.

Fredonia picked up its lone point in the fifth singles position, where Amelia Stathatos edged Thiel in a tightly contested match, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Cecilia Hickin closed out the day for Saint Vincent with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 6 singles, earning a 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 decision.

The Bearcats return to action on Monday, March 30, when they host California University of Pennsylvania at 12 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
