MEADVILLE, Pa. (Apr. 22)- The Saint Vincent baseball team lost both games of their doubleheader at Allegheny on Wednesday afternoon in Meadville.

The Bearcats lost a tight matchup 6-4 in the opener, before falling 15-2 in a seven inning run rule shortened game two.

Game 1- Allegheny 6, Saint Vincent 4
The Saint Vincent College baseball team dropped game one of Wednesday's Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader at Allegheny College, falling 6-4.

With the loss, the Bearcats moved to 12-20 overall and 7-10 in PAC play.

Saint Vincent jumped in front with a big third inning.
Ryan Finniff led off the frame with a single,
Dylan Schmude followed with a bunt hit, and
AJ McLafferty lined an RBI single to right center to tie the game at 1-1. Two batters later,
Reid Rachwal launched a three-run homer to left, scoring
Ryan Tierney and Schmude to give the Bearcats a 4-1 advantage.

Allegheny chipped away from there. The Gators got on the board in the second when Wyatt Burchill scored on a throwing error, then added two runs in the fifth. Nick Banez scored on a throwing error in left field, and Noah Philson followed with an RBI single to cut the Saint Vincent lead to 4-3.

The Gators pulled even in the seventh on Ryan Cochran's RBI single, then took the lead for good in the eighth. Wyatt Burchill scored on a throwing error during a sacrifice bunt, and Ty Eberhardt later came home on a sacrifice fly by Banez to account for the 6-4 final.

Saint Vincent finished with nine hits in the loss. McLafferty went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two stolen bases, Petty added two hits, and Rachwal's three-run homer accounted for the bulk of the Bearcats' offense. Schmude, Finniff, Janosko and Fontana each added a hit.

On the mound,
Andrew Bell gave the Bearcats a strong start, allowing three runs, just one earned, over six innings while striking out two.
Connor Soska,
Jack Reichart and
Jacob Auld worked in relief, with Reichart taking the loss.

Saint Vincent was hurt by three errors, while Allegheny's Zach Miner went the distance to earn the win.

Game 2- Allegheny 15, Saint Vincent 2 (7 Innings)
The Bearcats fell in game two of the doubleheader by a score of 15-2 in a seven-inning run rule shortened game.

Saint Vincent scored first in the top of the first on a fielder's choice by
T.J. Bucy that scored
Dylan Schmude to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 lead. From that point on, it was all Gators. Allegheny scored eight runs in the first inning, one in each of the third and fourth innings, and five in the fifth.

The Bearcats second and final run of the game came on a
Chuck Fontana solo homerun in the third inning.
Isiah Petty,
Armani LoRusso, and
Ryan Finniff all recorded hits in the loss for the Bearcats as well.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, April 25 with a home PAC doubleheader against Hiram. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bearcat Ballfield
