LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 26)- The Saint Vincent baseball team was swept by Hiram in a home Presidents Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Bearcat Ballfield.

The Bearcats dropped the opener 8-3, before falling 4-3 in the finale of the doubleheader.

Game 1- Hiram 8, Saint Vincent 3
The Saint Vincent College baseball team carried a one-run lead into the eighth inning, but visiting Hiram College used a six-run frame to rally for an 8-3 victory over the Bearcats on Sunday afternoon at Bearcat Ballfield.

Hiram struck first in the top of the third inning, taking advantage of an error before Logan Gallentine delivered an RBI single to put the Terriers ahead 1-0. The Bearcats answered in the bottom half of the frame, as Brooklyn Hicks scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Tierney to even the score at 1-1.

The Terriers regained the lead in the fifth on an RBI single from Matthew Trimble, but Saint Vincent again responded immediately. Ryan Finniff doubled down the left field line to open the bottom of the inning, then scored on a Dylan Schmude RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

The Bearcats grabbed their first lead in the sixth inning. Isiah Petty singled, moved into scoring position, and came home on a Traynor Janosko RBI double down the right field line to give Saint Vincent a 3-2 advantage.

Hiram turned the game in the eighth, stringing together six runs on six hits to reclaim the lead for good. Brady Trem delivered a two-run single in the inning, while Ethan Ryan, Gallentine, and Luke Snider each added RBIs as the Terriers surged in front 8-3.

The Saint Vincent College baseball team nearly erased a three-run deficit in the ninth inning, but the late rally came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Hiram College in game two of Sunday's doubleheader at Bearcat Ballfield.

With the loss, the Bearcats fell to 12-24 overall, while Hiram improved to 15-20.

Saint Vincent struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Reid Rachwal singled to right center and came around to score on an RBI double to right center by Chuck Fontana, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead.

Hiram answered in the sixth, using a two-run single from Ben Yoder to move in front, 2-1. The Terriers added one run in the seventh on an RBI single by Brady Isgro, before pushing the lead to 4-1 in the eighth on an RBI single from Matthew Trimble.

The Bearcats mounted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Rachwal drew a two-out walk, Fontana followed with a single and T.J. Bucy singled to load the bases. Isiah Petty then delivered a two-run single to right center, scoring Rachwal and Fontana to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Hiram recorded the final out to hold on for the win.
