GROVE CITY, Pa. (Sept. 18) – The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team was swept by Mount St. Joseph University in the opening match of the Grove City/Westminster Tournament on Friday evening at Grove City College.
The Bearcats (1-6) fell by set scores of 11-25, 15-25 and 22-25.
Aubrey Siwula led the Saint Vincent attack with nine kills, while Meegan Williams added eight kills. Madie Eagler totaled a team-high nine assists, while Preslee Horchak added six assists.
Defensively, Williams led the Bearcats with a match-high 13 digs, while Brenna McCracken added six. Horchak, Elliot Hardy and Maria Piraino each totaled four digs. Hardy also recorded Saint Vincent's lone service ace of the match.
As a team, Saint Vincent totaled 24 kills, 22 assists and 41 digs, while hitting .118 in the loss. Mount St. Joseph (8-2) finished the match with 45 kills, 42 assists, 49 digs and 10 service aces, while hitting .283 as a team.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, September 19, for a pair of matches to conclude the Grove City/Westminster Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Westminster College. The Bearcats will take on Penn College at 10 a.m., before facing Marietta College at 2 p.m in New Wilmington.
