LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 6)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team dropped their 2026-27 season opener to Penn State-Altoona on Sunday afternoon at the freshly refurbished SVC Courts.
The Bearcats (0-1) competed in doubles, but dropped all three matches, before doing the same to the Lions (4-0) in singles play.
In doubles play,
Rachel Zgurich and
Emily Meltzer played a competitive match in the top doubles spot. The duo fell by a score of 6-3.
Zgurich lost in the top singles spot 0-6, 3-6, while
Sydney McWreath and
Ashley Thiel both dropped matches by scores of 0-6, 1-6 in number two and three singles respectively. Meltzer dropped sixth doubles by scores of 1-6, 0-6.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, September 8 as they host Saint Francis at the SVC Courts. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
