The Bearcats overpowered Penn State-Dubois by a score of 87-64 in the opening round of the Coaches vs Cancer Classic, hosted by Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA.
Saint Vincent scored the game's first 12 points and the outcome was never in doubt. The Bearcats (2-0) increased the lead to 46-19 by halftime, and continued to play well throughout the second half, running the lead as high as 31 midway through the second.
Isaac Turner came off the bench and led all scorers with 22, equaling his output from Tuesday's opener, including 4-for-6 from outside the arc.
BJ McGill and
Dennis Bassich each tallied 17. McGill had 13 in the first half.
McGill was the team's top rebounder with 9, including seven in the first half. Turner added 8 boards, while
Grant Latus, making his SVC debut, had seven.
Latus also scored 9 points, as did
Armani Fountain.
Ryan Nelson had eight. McGill dished out seven assists with no turnovers.
Defensively, McGill recorded six steals, while Fountain, Latus and Turner each recorded a pair of blocked shots.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, facing Lancaster Bible College in the tournament championship at 3PM.
