Led by Isaac Turner's 30 points, the Bearcats defeated the Penn State-Altoona Lions 78-62 at the Carey Center Monday night.

Penn State-Altoona got off to a quick start, looking to drive early and often, which allowed them to take an 11-4 lead.

Saint Vincent was able to pull within two points after Armani Fountain scored two. Then, Isaac Turner tied the game at 19 with 7:50 remaining in the half. He continued to work hard for the Bearcats giving them their first lead of the game, 22-19, off of a three-point jump shot. Saint Vincent was able to increase its lead to ten with one minute remaining in the half. Penn State-Altoona's Lorenzo Carter drove the lane at the buzzer, scoring two, and Saint Vincent took a 34-27 lead into the break.

The Lions scored the first four points of the second half, but it wasn't long before Turner took over for Saint Vincent, scoring the next eight points of the half. First, he hit a pair three-pointers, and then added another score to give the Bearcats at 42-33 lead.

Saint Vincent increased its lead to thirteen points after a conventional three-point play by Turner. Penn State-Altoona got into foul trouble fairly early in the second half, which allowed the Bearcats to go 12 for 17 from the line over the final 20 minutes.

At the seven minute mark, BJ McGill drew a foul on his two-point layup and completed the three-point play with one from the free throw line to give Saint Vincent a seventeen point lead. Thirty seconds later, Saint Vincent would command its largest lead of the game, 69-50, with 6:35 remaining, after another three-pointer by Turner. Penn State-Altoona brought it back to within eleven points, but would get no closer as the Bearcats pulled away for a sixteen point win.

Turner led the Bearcat scorers with 30 points, including a strong 11-for-15 from the floor, while Dennis Bassich put up 14 and BJ McGill tallied 13. Grant Latus and Mike Burroughs each grabbed six rebounds for Saint Vincent (5-1). The Bearcats shot 52.9% from the floor, compared to Penn State-Altoona's 45.1%.

Lorenzo Carter led Penn State-Altoona (0-5) on the scoresheet with 15 points, while Kirk Peters added 13. The Lions out-rebounded the Bearcats 37-33.

Saint Vincent will face a quick turnaround as they travel to Thiel on Wednesday night for an 8PM conference match-up.
