Nationally ranked SVC rolls over Westminster

BOX SCORE

The Saint Vincent women were never threatened, leading from start to finish against Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Westminster College.  The final score was 72-45.

Saint Vincent (6-0) showed why it is ranked 21st in the nation, scoring the game's first point and holding the lead for the remainder of the game.  Westminster closed within one, 13-12, with 12:38 left in the first half, but SVC then scored the game's next 10 points and never looked back.

By halftime, the score was 36-22 thanks to a balanced scoring attack led by the trio of Brittany Sedlock, Maria Baroffio and Melissa Mansur.

The lead continued to grow throughout the second half, as four SVC players ended up in double figures for the game.  Both Sedlock and Baroffio tallied 18 points, with Mansur adding 12 and Emily Fenton scoring 10.  Jordan  Clinton added 8 points off the bench.  Baroffio led the team with 9 rebounds, and the SVC defense posted 17 steals, led by Devin McGrath (5) and Baroffio (4).

Westminster (2-5, 0-2 PAC) was led by Hannah Shaffer's 8 points, while Emily Dolsak grabbed 9 rebounds.

With the win, Saint Vincent improves to 2-0 in the PAC.  The team will next face Juniata College in non-conference play on the road Wednesday evening.  The game will be one of the few this season that will not be broadcast by SVC-TV on the internet.
