COLUMBUS, Ohio (Dec. 19) - Behind four players in double-digits, the Saint Vincent women's basketball team cruised to an 84-66 non-conference victory at Capital at the Capital Center.
With the win, the Bearcats improve to 8-1 on the season while the Crusaders drop to 5-4.
After the score was tied early, 2-2, SVC used a 12-0 run to take an early 14-2 lead at the 14:38-mark before Capital used its first timeout. The run was highlighted by a pair of three-pointers by freshman guard
Elle Collins. With the score 16-8 with 11:16 remaining, SVC again went on a big run out-scoring Capital, 15-2, over the next five minutes, including back-to-back-to-back three-pointers, two of which came from freshman guard
Jessica Welch. The Bearcats' lead expanded to as large as 25 points, 41-16, with 2:38 to play before the break on a lay-up from sophomore forward
Ariel Rocco. At the break, SVC lead, 43-22.
The first half saw SVC shoot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from the floor and 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from three-point range while holding Capital to just 35.7 percent (10-of-28) and 12.5 percent (one-of-eight), respectively.
In the second half, Saint Vincent continued its hot shooting from the field, connecting on 62.5 percent (15-of-24) field-goal attempts.

Emily Fenton led Saint Vincent with 17 points while junior
Devin McGrath added 15 points. Senior forward
Brittany Sedlock posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Collins chipped in 11 points. Junior
Melissa Mansur led the team with seven assists and five steals in the win.
The Bearcats return to action on Thursday, Dec. 29, traveling to the Juniata Holiday Tournament against Ramapo (N.J.)
