SVC ends regular season with loss to Thomas More

Thomas More, the #1 ranked team in the nation, defeated the #14 Bearcats in Kentucky by a score of 73-48 to conclude the regular season.

The Saints dominated the game from the start, opening a 21-4 lead in the opening nine minutes.  The lead later grew to nineteen, 28-9, before the Bearcats managed to cut the gap to just eleven, 33-22, at the half.

SVC quickly got back within single digits in the first 20 seconds of the second half, but the Saints then embarked on a 16-0 run to put the game away.

Melissa Mansur led the Bearcats with 14 points, while Brittany Sedlock added 12.  Sedlock had a team-high 9 rebounds, while Savannah Hardy tallied 8 boards.  Devin McGrath had 7 assists, while Emily Fenton recorded 4 steals. 

As a team, Saint Vincent shot just 27% from the floor (20-73), and were out-rebounded, 51-38.

The Saints had a balanced offense, with five players scoring between 10 and 12 points.  Nicole Dickman (12 points, 12 rebounds) was joined by Katie Kees with 12 boards to tie for game-high.

Thomas More connected on 18 of 23 free throws, while Saint Vincent only made it to the line six times, scoring twice. 

Saint Vincent will finish the regular season in second place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a record of 14-2, both losses coming at the hands of Thomas More.  The Bearcats will host a playoff game at 6PM in the Carey Center on Tuesday night, opponent to be determined.
