The Bearcat men's tennis team defeated Westminster College in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at the Greensburg Racquet Club by a score of 5-4.
After doubles play, Westminster held a 2-1 advantage, with the lone Bearcat win recorded by the #2 doubles team of
Nathan Walch and
Tyler Camaione.
In singles, Walch and Camaione each became two-time winners on the day, with Walch scoring a straight-set win in the #2 position, while Camaione was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at #4.
Nick Latterner also scored a win in the #6 singles position, winning in straight sets for the Bearcats' fourth win of the day.
With the overall match tied at 4-4, it all came down to the #3 singles match, between Westminster's Drew Trifelos and SVC's
Sean Malone, the reigning PAC Player of the Week. The pair split the opening two sets, with Malone scoring a 6-2 win before Trifelos took the second set, 6-4. In the deciding set, Malone was a 6-4 winner, securing the team victory for Saint Vincent.
SVC is now 2-3 overall, 1-0 in the PAC.
