Box ScoreThe Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team saw its losing streak reach three, as the Bearcats were defeated 16-2 on the road to Shenandoah University.
The Bearcats managed one goal in each half, with
Liz Basile-Louison scoring in the opening stanza and
Nora Posival in the second, but the Hornets were too much to handle.
Shenandoah took control from the start, taking a 5-0 lead 13 minutes into play. Basile-Louison's unassisted tally at the 16:23 mark of the first half would temporarily stop the bleeding, but the Hornets responded by scoring five times in the final 11 minutes of the half to take a 10-1 lead into the intermission.
The hosts would eventually stretch their lead to 13-1 with 12:17 left in the second half, before Posival scored with just under seven minutes remaining. Shenandoah closed the game out by scoring three goals over the final four minutes to cruise to its ninth straight win.
The Hornets out-shot the Bearcats 26-11 for the afternoon and grabbed 32 ground balls compared to SVC's 24, while SVC committed 31 turnovers to Shenandoah's 24.Â
Kerry Tittinger led the Bearcats (0-3) with five ground balls, while
Jess Drury, Megan Reiser, and
Shawna Edwards each snagged four. Reiser started and played all 60 minutes in goal, making nine saves.
Shenandoah (10-2) was led on the scoresheet by Sara Mucciaro, who recorded a monster day, with three goals and four assists. Corinne Kosmowski added four goals for the hosts, while Samantha Sisson and Amy Rollins scored three apiece. Â
The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday afternoon, looking for their first win of the season when they travel to Waynesburg University for a 4pm start.Â
