The Saint Vincent women's basketball team defeated Bethany College on the road by a score of 70-45.

The Bearcats scored the game's first 13 points -- six by freshman Elle Collins -- and did not allow the hosts to score until more than three minutes into play.

Later in the first, the lead grew as high as 19 points on two occasions, but the Bison appeared poised for a comeback, outscoring SVC 6-1 in the final two minutes, making it 36-22 at the half.  Bethany then started the second half with six straight points, cutting the gap to just eight, 36-28, before a well-timed SVC timeout at the 17:50 mark.

Freshman Jessica Welch then hit a three pointer, followed by a Brittany Sedlock score, that ran the lead back to 13.  Welch hit two more treys in the next five minutes, and the lead grew to 23 (55-32) at the 10:30 mark.

From there, the outcome was never in doubt.

Devin McGrath led all scorers in the game with 15 for the Bearcats, while Sedlock added 14 points and a game-best 12 rebounds.  Welch added 11 points, all in the second half.

McGrath blocked five shots, giving her 11 in the past two games, and added four steals.  Sedlock had five assists.

For the Bison, Anne Wilson and Katelynn Hackathorn each scored 10 points, while Renee Shepherd had 7 boards.

Saint Vincent is now 8-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, 13-3 overall, while the Bison slip to 9-7 (5-4 PAC).

SVC will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Westminster College at 4PM in the Carey Center.
