The Saint Vincent women's basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit to earn a 66-62 non-conference win on the road over Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA.

Juniata jumped to an early 9-1 lead before Melissa Mansur, who tallied 14 points in the first half, got SVC rolling.  Three pointers by Elle Collins and Mansur later made it a two-point game, 11-9, and a Jessica Welch layup  at the 10:50 mark cut the deficit to just one, 14-13.

After the Golden Eagles extended the lead to seven, 22-15, Welch hit a three to help the Bearcat cause.

However, with just under five minutes left in the half, the Bearcats found themselves down by nine, 31-22, before scoring six points inside of 20 seconds.  First, Mansur hit a bucket, then Taylor Mathers stole a pass and passed to Ally Schmidt, who hit a reverse layup.  Mansur then stole the inbound pass and scored, capping the 6-0 run.

The hosts then called timeout to regroup, and stormed back with a 7-point run to give them the largest lead of the day, at 38-28.

SVC closed the half with four points to make it 38-32 at the break.

The Bearcats returned from the locker room and scored six straight points to quickly tie the game at 38-38, and eventually took the lead on back-to-back scores by Taylor Mathers near the 15 minute mark of the second half.

From there, strong play by Jordan Clinton helped SVC retain the lead until the closing minutes.  With four minutes to go, a Juniata score made it 62-60, and the hosts then tied the game at 62 with 1:27 to go.

After an SVC time out with 35 ticks left, Devin McGrath took a pass from Schmidt and scored what would prove to be the winning basket.  Juniata drove inside for a final try, but had the ball stripped, and SVC was given possession with 9.0 seconds left.  The Golden Eagles had fouls to give, fouling Bearcat players with 8.0 and 7.3 seconds remaining.  An offensive foul then turned the ball back over to Juniata, but a missed shot with 2.8 seconds left was rebounded by Mansur, who sank two free throws to secure the win.

Mansur led all scorers with 18 points and 8 rebounds, including a 9-10 showing at the free throw line.  Clinton added 12 points, all in the second half, to go along with 7 boards.  Schmidt had 10 points.

Jordan Speck led Juniata with 11 points.

Saint Vincent is now 6-3 on the season, while Juniata falls to 6-2.

SVC will be back in action on December 28 in the Las Vegas Classic.
