The Bearcat men's basketball team earned an overtime road victory over Grove City, 74-71, in Presidents' Athletic Conference play.

Grant Latus had career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (16), while Isaac Turner had 21 points, including two key free throws with 20 seconds left in overtime.

Scores by Armani Fountain and Grant Latus put SVC up, 4-0, in the first three minutes, and showed that the Bearcats had a strong inside game.  However, outside shooting was a problem throughout the first half for SVC.

A 6-0 run by the Wolverines put them in front, 9-5, but SVC came back to later take a 13-10 lead after a pair of free throws by Dillon Stith.

The teams played evenly through the middle portion of the first half, as Latus provided much of the Bearcat scoring.  A three by Isaac Turner then gave the Bearcats a one-point edge, 22-21, with 6:30 to go.  After that, the team went cold, as Grove City outscored the Bearcats 14-5 the rest of the half, to take a 35-27 lead into the break.

The Bearcats still trailed by eight, 39-31, before Chris Klimchock hit a three, followed by scores from Turner and Latus that made it a three-point game.  A three-point play by Stith later made it a one-point game, 43-42.

Down 47-44, SVC went on a seven-point run, keyed by threes from Turner and JC Howard, to take a 51-47 advantage.

A later three by Turner ran the SVC lead to 56-50, but the hosts came back, with a Nate Rambacher tip-in making the score 57-55 at the 5:40 mark.

Sean Kett then scored five straight points for the Bearcats to run the lead back to seven, but once again the Wolverines weren't finished, fighting back to tie the game at the free throw line with 42 seconds left.

Neither team managed to score in the remainder of regulation, sending the teams to overtime tied, 63-63.

Latus started SVC with a basket in OT, followed by a Kett three that put the Bearcats ahead, 68-63.  Rambacher then scored on back to back possessions to make it a one-point game.

A score by Turner made it 70-67, but a three pointer by the hosts, followed by a free throw at the 1:10 mark, made it a one-point game.

After Latus failed to convert on a pair of free throws, he grabbed a vital rebound with 20 seconds left, handed the ball off to Turner, who was fouled.  Turner then hit the clinching free throws.  Grove City missed three shots in the final 10 seconds to give the win to the Bearcats.

Sean Kett added 10 points and rebounds for Saint Vincent (7-2, 3-0 PAC).  Rambacher led the Wolverines (1-6, 1-3 PAC) with 18 points.

Saint Vincent returns to action at home next Sunday, December 16, with a 12Noon game against Juniata College.
