The Saint Vincent men's tennis team opened the 2012 season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Waynesburg University in Presidents' Athletic Conference play. 

SVC's #1 doubles team of Nathan Walch and Anthony Nemanic were 8-1 winners in their match, while the #3 doubles tandem of Dan Chirdon and Chris Andrejcik won 8-0.

The #2 doubles match was considerably closer, as Saint Vincent's Sean Malone and Tony Costantino were up 7-6 before Jon Anderson and Philip Littlejohn of Waynesburg came back to tie the set at seven.  Malone and Costantino then won the next two games to earn the 9-7 victory.

In singles, all six SVC players were straight set winners.  Walch had to go to a tiebreaker in the first set to defeat Anderson.

Saint Vincent will now prepare for its Spring Break trip to Florida, where it will have three matches against tough NAIA opponents beginning March 5 against Saint Thomas University at Miami Gardens.
