The Saint Vincent men's tennis team improved to 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 7-2 victory over Westminster College in a match held at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
After taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play was completed, the Bearcats won five of the six singles positions to close out the win.
Anthony Nemanic,
Dan Chirdon, and
Chris Andrejcik, playing at second, fourth, and fifth singles respectively, continued their strong singles play from earlier in the week. The trio lost only six games between them.
Tony Costantino and
Sean Malone bounced back from a loss at second doubles to win both their singles matches.
Costantino, playing first singles, won 6-2, 6-1 against Westminster's Nathan Huber, who twice beat Saint Vincent first singles players last year.
In doubles play,
Anthony Nemanic and
Dan Chirdon won 8-4 in a well-played match at first doubles.
Chris Andrejcik and
Nick Latterner also won at third doubles by the score of 8-5.
The Bearcats next match takes place Sunday against nonconference foe D'Youville (NY).
