Bearcats overpower D'Youville, 9-0

BOX SCORE

The Saint Vincent men's tennis team improved to 4-2 on the season with another 9-0 shutout win against nonconference foe D'Youville (NY).

It might have been the Bearcats most dominating win of the year as they did not lose more than 4 games in any set or doubles game.

At third doubles Chris Andrejcik and Nick Latterner pitched a shutout of their own, winning 8-0.  Anthony Nemanic and Dan Chirdon won 8-2 at first doubles while Sean Malone and Tony Costantino won 8-1 at second doubles.

At fifth singles Chris Andrejcik continued his dominating play by emerging victorious in straight sets without losing a game.  His double partner, Nick Latterner, likewise breezed to a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth singles.

At fourth singles Dan Chirdon used a chip and charge strategy to notch a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Tony Costantino played the match of the day against a tough opponent at first singles.  He used his consistency to frustrate his opponent and win 6-1, 6-4.

Saint Vincent plays again Monday against Penn State Altoona at the Greensburg Racquet Club.  Match time is 12:30.  The Bearcats are looking for their first ever victory against this strong nonconference opponent.
