CHASING HISTORY: After making four catches last week, senior WR
Ricky Douglas enters this week tied with former WR Sheldon Loughner atop the SVC career receptions list with 76 catches. With 58 yards receiving last week, Douglas moved to within 156 yards of the career receiving yards mark of 1,239, also set by Loughner.
21 AND COUNTING: Douglas also extended his reception streak to 21 games with his four-catch performance last week. The last time he did not record a catch in a game he played in was the 2010 season-opener against Bridgewater (Va.). The modern-day record is 26 games and is also held by Loughner.
JUMP AROUND: Junior RB
Huey Ehredt tossed his first-career touchdown pass last week on a jump pass from the two yardline. It marked the third time that the Bearcats successfully scored on the play. The previous two times were both thrown by former RB
Jairus Marlow and caught by former TE Jake Gabelt. The first was executed at W&J in 2008 and the most recent one was in 2009 at home against Westminster.
CENTURY MARK: Ehredt eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the third time in his career last week with 118 yards on 21 carries. The last time he achieved the milestone was in the 2011 regular season finale against Bethany where the junior totaled 116 yards on 13 carries and two trips to the end zone. His first 100-yard game established his career high with 155 yards on 19 carries at Geneva earlier in the season.
STEPPING UP: Freshman LB Renny Larue-Holloman led the team in tackles against Wooster with nine stops (all solo), which marked the first time that a freshman led the Bearcats in tackles since the 2009 season when
David Ribero recorded 11 stops (eight solo) at Thiel.
THROW 'EM UP, KNOCK 'EM DOWN: Sophomore CB
Darius Brown recorded two passes defended in the loss to Wooster to move him into a tie for second place in modern-day history with 16. He sits even with former Bearcat Roscoe Barber and is one shy of former Saint Vincent defensive back Quillian Reed's record of 17.
LONG ENOUGH: Sophomore K
Morgan Porter's 44-yard field-goal attempt in overtime tied the record for the longest modern-day attempt in Bearcat history. Porter's kick was long enough and would have been good from further by went just outside of the left upright to be no good. The last time SVC attempted a 44-yarder was by former K Aaron Jones in 2010 against Bridgewater.
